Sustainability in Africa offers opportunity for economic and social development-from regional integration, economic empowerment, resource and environmental management, urbanization, to leadership. The adoption of sustainability principles and practices to Africa, is not just an emerging international practice, but has become a model for development. Furthermore, while the principles of sustainability might be beneficial to Africans, the international practice and demands placed on Africans, its impact and contribution to African development has remained a subject of debate. Should Africa shoulder the failure of developed countries in terms of sustainability? Is there a need for a regional framework for sustainability practices in Africa? With all of its benefits, why is Africa still grappling with the implementation of sustainability practices? What are emerging sustainability concerns for Africans? Where do we situate Africa in the pursuit of sustainability? What best practices can help Africa in sustainability and the green innovation?
